The family night supper will host guest speaker, Walt Mathias. Walt is a member of the Honeoye Falls UMC, and works most weeks being in mission. Walt is retired, and works to rebuild buildings from storms, such as his recent mission trip to St. Croix. He works with Pete and Leon from two other United Methodist Churches this week working with the Refugee Resettlement Organizaion in Rochester. In the past weeks, they have had help with a group from Americorps with their work.
This Sunday before Thanksgiving is also ‘Christ the King Sunday’. We will begin the worship focusing on Thanksgiving, and end with the concept of “Christ the ing. The scripture will be Luke 23:33-43, and is the story of Christ being the Messiah on the cross.
This is the first Sunday in Advent. This begins our Advent theme of “Making Room For Jesus”. The scripture will be from Isaiah 11:1-10. This is a vision and a hope from Isaiah where. God would bring in a new age. Such a vision was making room for Jesus to come to the word. We will celebrate communion on this day,
We will begin lighting the Advent Candles. This week the candle will be “Hope”.
